An Introduction to Megan

I decided yesterday that I needed something for myself. You always see on Oprah or some other talk shows, that mothers or wives need to take some time for themselves because they don't know who they are anymore...so here is my "me" space.

Before I got married I enjoyed doing stand up comedy. Most people don't believe me when I tell them this, because I believe that I have gone back into a shell somewhat and am afraid of what people will think. I have to really get to know someone before I will show that side of myself again. Not anymore! I plan on putting my sence of humor to good use on this page. I also plan on promoting myself a little more. I am a dang good cake decorator/party planner, and I would like people to know it. So that being said if you are ever interested in my random thoughts, or what cakes I've recently done, please visit often!

So for this first post, I will give you a background on my attempt at stand up comedy. I started in March of 2000. I had gone to the Wiseguys comedy club in West Valley a few times to see shows, and they kept advertising "Saussage NIght". I ask what that was and they said it was for anyone who wanted to try it because beginner comedy is like saussage...everyone likes comedy but no one wants to see how it's made. TOTALLY TRUE!!

I remember the week before I tried it I spent hours working out what I was going to say and how I was going to stand and where to pause etc etc. The night of my big debut came and I tried to invite everyone I knew. I thought I was going to pack the house and they would be begging me to come back and do stand up again because I was really quite an asset.

I did my routine, and while it wasn't perfect, I did really well for a beginner. There was even a guy from QuickWits there and they did some improv and they ask some of us to come and participate, me being the only girl comic, I had to go up. It's all on tape and I like watching it from time to time.

So that's how it got started...I'm still funny and I still love making people laugh.
